ART OF PATCHWORKING

THE BACKGROUND

The Area between Firenze and Prato is studded with Companies operating in textile.
There are thousands of Companies that produces every single day swatches, manifacturing errors and faulted items.

This habit is commonplace for each and every single textile company, even the best and most organized.
It leads to the distruction of the best quality material.

The reclamation of this material has become the starting point of the whole project.

In addition to that we think that the fast fashion system, with its intrinsic style omologation and bad quality, has now reached its end.

We tried to create a new product in response to a contemporary request: something unique and out of the industrial chain.

We want, in our own little way, try to stop the circle of fast fashion and give to you a new way of conceiving a clothing item.

     OSOSO HOUSE OF PATCHWORK

Ososo is born within FTM srl, a knitwear factory located between Prato and Firenze. The company operates since 1992 as knitwear supplier for several national and international brands.

The project started with the recycle of all the archival prototipes, faulty items and pre-production swatches accumulated during the company's past productions.

We cut, sewed, mended thousands of swatches and at the end we got out our concept.

It is a one of a piece product only made out of the best knitted yarn such as wool or cashmere but destined to be destroyed in the production process.

Our estethic is easily identifiable by the mix of traditional techniques, such as the looping machine's sewing, and innovative ones like the wave sewing and a modern fit.

THE DESIGNER

Livio Taddei, born in Firenze class 1987

I graduated in Art history in 2013 at La Sapienza University of Rome where i have lived many years.

I moved to London in 2014 to attend a Master at Birckback College in Management of the Arts.

I grew up in the Knitwear world but when i was i child i never thought it could have been my future job.

My first passion is art. I have always drew and build and sketched since i can remember.

When i came back to Italy in 2015 i threw myself into fully undestanding the world i grew up into. I learned the caratheristics and proprieties of each yarn, the programming of the knitting machines, the sewing techniques.

I grew passioned of the traditional knitting machine and i sew regolarely on all gauges.

I work as a freelance designer for several companies and full time as production developer for FTM srl

I combined my passion for art and knitwear to give birth to this project.
